<div style="text-align: justify;">The Chevrolet Cruze, General Motors' replacement for the aging Cobalt compact, will be built in plants around the world and sold in 60-plus countries. Our man Bob Gritzinger drove prototypes at GM's proving grounds in Milford, Mich., back in April, and now we've spent a day in some no-excuses production models.<br /><br />Power comes from one of two sources: a 1.8-liter four producing 136 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque or a 1.4-liter turbocharged four making 138 hp and 148 lb-ft. Chevy says 0-to-60-mph times should be in the low-9.0-second range. A 1.8-liter, 128-hp, 123-lb-ft four will be offered later in a fuel-sipper model. The current versions can be had with a six-speed manual, and a six-speed automatic is also offered. The looks didn't do much for me, the interior was fine and the power was just OK. I know lots of people buy Camrys, but I can't say this car would be at the top of my list of midsize four-doors, especially given the sticker price.<br /><br />At times, it felt like there was a period of hesitation to get up to speed, especially in passing. There was good legroom throughout, but I couldn't seem to get the driver's seat in a comfortable enough position, which I didn't like. I felt like I was sitting too far away.<br /><br />For running around, and for toting along a family, I guess I can see why people flock to this car. The C63’s powerplant is good for 443 lb-ft of torque and 457 horsepower. The torque curve of the engine is just as impressive as its output: from 2000 to 6250 rpm the driver always has more than 360 pound-feet on tap �' ideal for powerful acceleration in any engine speed range.<br /><br />The sprint to 62 mph takes a scant 4.5 seconds according to Mercedes -- and that's likely a conservative estimate: real world acceleration is typically even quicker than claimed times.<br /><br />Maximum torque of 443 pound-feet comes at 5000 rpm. The torque curve is equally impressive: from 2000 to 6250 rpm the driver always has more than 360 pound-feet on tap -- ideal for powerful acceleration in any engine speed range.<br /><br />A new seven-speed AMG automatic transmission with paddle shifting provides a wide range of driving modes. The different modes are "S" (Sport), " C" (Comfort) and "M" (Manual). Gearshifts in "S" mode are around 30 percent faster than in "C", and no less than around 50 percent faster in "M" mode.<br /><br />The C 63 AMG owes its outstanding handling dynamics to the AMG sports suspension and an all-new three-link front axle design. The stiff configuration of the springs and gas-pressure shock absorbers ensures optimal road contact and low body movements when negotiating serpentine bends at speed.<br /><br />The new front axle has a 35-millimetre wider track �' visible by the more widely flared wheel arches �' and therefore ensures lower dynamic wheel loads when cornering.<br /><br />The front brakes have size 360 x 36-millimeter discs with six-piston fixed callipers, while deceleration at the rear is handled by 330 x 26-millimeter discs with four-piston fixed callipers.<br /><br />The Electronic Stability Program offers a variety of settings. In "ESP ON" mode, the onset of handling instability leads to braking intervention at one or more of the wheels, accompanied by a reduction in engine torque. Briefly pressing the ESP key activates "ESP SPORT". In this mode the braking intervention to counter oversteer or understeer, as well as the accompanying reduction in engine torque, allows a higher dynamic threshold. Prolonged pressure on the ESP key activates "ESP OFF," whereby there is no intervention.<br /><br />Pricing<br /><br />There is no doubt that Mercedes-Benz is squarely taking aiming at BMW's M3 with its all-new C63 AMG Sedan, and that rivalry will be reflected in the car's price. Mercedes has announced that its C63 AMG will come with a base sticker price of $53,800 -- the exact same price of entry for BMW's M3 sedan.</div>

Audi will follow that up with this car, using the marque's unique W12 engine (four rows of three cylinders), in long-wheelbase chassis only. Now offering a full 500 hp (up 50 hp, or 10 percent), the company's technological showcase nevertheless returns improved fuel economy, in part thanks to a new eight-speed tiptronic transmission.<br /><br />More than five inches longer than the outgoing model--with all the added length devoted to the comfort of rear-seat passengers--the A8L is, like its predecessor, built on an aluminum spaceframe structure that Audi claims reduces chassis mass 40 percent over an all-steel equivalent. This is offset somewhat by the standard quattro four-wheel-drive system, the panoramic glass dual sunroofs and other luxurious features. But in a car that stretches 17 feet, 3.5 inches (a bit longer than the Mercedes S-class), it lets Audi pack in those features at a curb weight no greater than its rivals from Munich or Stuttgart.<br /><br />Audi says its car will be the first automobile that offers a true mobile WLAN rolling hot spot and takes advantage of this Internet connectivity by using a navigation system that uses Google maps to make any place on the planet a potential “point of interest” or destination. The hardware for this feature will be installed from the outset, though enabling its operation in the United States will await agreement with a mobile-communications partner.<br /><br />Other new features include a “relaxation seat” option that provides a reclinable rear seat with a fold-down footrest in the back of the front passenger seat, all power operated. The front seat becomes unusable when this feature is fully utilized, but it does let Audi offer a Maybach-like luxury feature in a slightly less ostentatious package. Long as it is now, the A8L is still three feet shorter than the battleship-like Maybach 62.<br /><br />In Europe, the car goes on sale in October and offers other engine options that include 3.0-liter and 4.2 liter turbodiesels and a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that burns gasoline. Audi has no immediate plans to use any of these engines in the U.S.-market A8, though Audi of America chief Johan De Nysschen says he'd like to offer clean diesel in every product line eventually. The supercharged V6 also has potential depending on economic and regulatory circumstances.</div>

I tested the new Ecoboost ‘top-of-the-line’ Limited model that came equipped with everything I would expect in a luxury crossover sport utility.<br /><br />Ford Flex already turned heads with its distinctive style and its planted stance, signature Ford aluminum grille, broad shoulders flanked by signature side grooves, a chrome strip that travels from the front A-pillar all around to the other side A-pillar, slab aluminum plate on the rear hatch, LED rear lamps, dual, 3in. polished stainless steel exhaust tips, and a flat roof, it is a style than shuns traditional crossover styling, plus you can still option for the available 2-tone roof.<br /><br />The Flex comes standard with a 3.5 liter, 24-valve V6 variation of the award-winning Duratec engine family that delivers 262hp at 6,250rpm and 248lb.ft. of torque, more than enough to easily move 7-passengers and cargo; but the big news is the optional EcoBoost twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter 24-valve, direct fuel injected V6 that produces 355hp at 5,700rpm and 350lb.ft. of torque at 3,500rpm, while still returning 16mpg/city and 22mpg/highway with the standard AWD.<br /></div><br /><table class="compare-table" style="width: 484px !
